BCNFC is currently seeking:
Executive Director
Responsible to: Board of Directors
Functional Description: This executive management position is of a supervisory and directional nature and is also responsible for, development and implementation.
This position is a member of the core staff.
Duties/Administration:
- Formulates objectives, goals and procedures both long and short-termed for the Bonnyville Canadian Native Friendship Centre
- Develops and maintains a sound organizational plan for B.C.N.F.C.
- Maintains positive financial planning for B.C.N.F.C.
- Ensures appropriate accounting and control practices are developed and maintained
- Acts as an administrative agent in regard to all contracts, subcontracts and leases engaged on behalf of the Board
- Develops proposals, submissions, objectives and goals of B.C.N.F.C.
- Must be able to secure new sources of funding
- In the absence of the Executive Director (absence being a short period of time and not to exceed two weeks), the Executive Director shall delegate Core Staff to assume all duties and responsibilities of that position
- Reviews and approves all staff time sheets and must submit his/her own time sheet to the Board of Directors monthly for approval
- In emergencies or urgent cases, the Executive Director my approve an interim appointment to a position
- Attends and represents the B.C.N.F.C. at inter-agency meetings within the community and surrounding area
Supervision:
- Hires and terminates all positions within the B.C.N.F.C., with input from the Personnel Committee
- Shall implement an evaluation methodology for all staff
- Shall evaluate all staff on an annual and probationary basis
Accountability:
- Is accountable in writing on a monthly basis to the Board of Directors. Such reports shall include monthly activities, personnel updates, project plans, financial reports and any other reports required by the Board. Ensures all staff submits a monthly written report t the Board.
- Shall provide written reports as requested by funding agencies
- Shall attend all Board meetings as requested
- Shall attend meetings with funding bodies as requested
Note: As this position is of a management type: the scope of the work shall not be limited to the above but must be seen as flexible to meet the needs of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Good written and oral communication skill, must have computer skills
- Knowledge pf organizations/public administration, proposal writing and management skills
- Knowledge of potential funders
- Must be fully aware of Native culture, values, beliefs, traditions and the ability to speak the Cree language would be a definite asset
- Access to a car and be willing to travel
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Experience and knowledge of the Native Friendship Centre Movement, A.F.C.P. and other organizations is an asset
- Educational requirements: Business degree, minimum of 2 year diploma in Human Services Field and five (5) years experience in the Human Services and Business Management
- Must be Bondable

Program Coordinator
Responsible to the Executive Director
Description: this administrative postition is of a development nature with emphasis on responding to indicate community needs. This position is a member of the Core Staff.
Duties/Administration:
- Develope all program submissions and/or proposals, including budget analysis as per BCNFC's goals and objectives to the Executive Director for review prior to forwarding to appropriate funders.
- Maintain an up to date inventory of all program equipment.
- Responsible for all programs with regard to planning, implementaion and evaluation.
- Respomsible for all project reports to funding agencies and the board.
- Shall recruit, train and co-ordinate all program volunteers.
- Develop and maintain a quarterly newsletter with the help of all staff.
Qualifications:
- Experience in proposal writing, program planning and evaluation.
- Knowledge of potential funders.
- Must have organizational skills.
- Good negotiational skills.
- Must be a self starter and work well independantly.
- Must have good written/oral communication skills.
- Must have access to a reliable vehical and valid driver's license.
- Be aware of Native culture, values, beliefs, traditions and the ability to speak Cree language will be an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of Native Friendship Centre movement and other organizations is an asset.
- Educational requirements - degree, two year diploma, two years related experience or equivalencies.

Youth Worker Assistant (BAYC)
Responsible to: Executive Director, Youth Council, and BCNFC Board of Directors.
Duties:
- Provide assistance to the Project Coordinator and BAYC throught the development, coordination and implementation of programs and activitiesas directed by the members of the Youth Council.
- Assist with monthly budgeting and narritive reports for the Youth Council, Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Assist with the supervision of the BAYC.
- Assist in fundraisers and special activities which may be scheduled from time to time by the Youth Council.
- Work in cooporation with the Youth, parents, volunteers, partners, other staff and Youth Council members to ensurea harmonious relation for the project.
- Promote Youth programs and activities within the community.
Qualifications:
- Experience in working with youth, co-ordinating programs and activities.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and traditions.
- Good interpersonal, communication, organization and leadership skills.
- Must be a team player and able to work flexible hours (ie. evenings and weekends).
- Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license and provide a clean driver's abstract.

Referral Worker
Responsible to: Executive Director.
Description: This position in of an information ans referral nature with emphasis on one-to-one community liasion contacts.
Duties:
- Shall interview and assist all clients seeking assistance through the Bonnyville Canadian Native Friendship Centre.
- Make appropriate referrals to other service agencies an departments.
- Provides assistance filling out forms, taxes, resumes, food bank requests and interpreting services as required in a confidential manner.
- Supervises soup kitchen and clothing depot.
- Assists the Program Coordinator in preparing the quarterly newsletter.
Qualifications:
- Good communication, written and computer skills.
- Knowledge of community agencies and their available resources.
- Must have a valid driver's license and dependable vehical.
- Be aware of Native culture, values, beliefs, traditions and the ability to speak the Cree language will be an asset.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of proposal writing.
- Knowledge of budget preperation.
- Experience and knowledge of Native Friendship movement, community agencies and services is an asset.
